Reviews
- I've been hard pressed to find actual track by track information for the Mute/Elektra release. It has 14 chapters with times that don't match up to any of the listed entries on Discogs. Even extensive web searching is coming up with nothing. Music Brainz and freedb have entries for each track that don't seem to match any of the times/titles on Discogs at all.
- Edited 18 years agoThis is a curious, but also frightening stuff. Derek Jarman was an underground filmmaker who created many memorable, but weird movies ("Caravaggio" and "Angelic Conversation" are just a few examples). "Blue" is his monologue on the subject of death and mortality. The cause is real - in the early 90s he contracted AIDS and started to lose his vision slowly, hence the name of the record and the movie (which, in itself, is nothing but a blue screen and music playing in the background).
There were a number of people involved in the creation of this album, including members of Coil (who were frequent Jarman collaborators), Brian Eno, Miranda Sex Garden and many others. Not an easy listening by any chance, but an unusual item nonethless.
