Reviews
- The first Meters album, and pretty much setting the ground work for '70s instrumental funk. Excellent album- every track is a rocker! This reissue has been oddly mastered. The bass is turned waaaaaaay up, making up for some of the limitations of whatever source they tapped for this cut. While the bass holds, you can hear a lot of peaking otherwise. It sounds less like a remaster and more like some engineer picking their favourite EQ preference before making the cut. Still, it's very listenable even with the lazy technical decisions.
- Awesome reissue !! ... Sounds loud as hell and is as phantasic as a record comes !! Beefy funk !! // Tommy
- This version sounds fantastic. Deeper and heavier sounding! Not to mention the record itself is very heavy duty, probably one of the thickest records I own! About as thick (if not thicker) than a 180 gram pressing!
- This is a reissue, but I definitely bought this before 2008, so it's not that particular reissue - no date on sleeve or record...I would guess it's from around the early 2000s.
- Not much to say about this or any Meters album other than that this is perfect down home funk. Flawless. When I don't know what to listen to, I always put this record on and think about it.
I counted at three different songs that have been sampled by hip-hop producers. DJ Premier of Gang Starr is especially fond of the Meters!
