Drop See Red into any set and watch the crowd go absolutely bananas...so simple but so effective.referencing Magnetic (CD, Album) XLCD 125
Dark, metallic, atmospheric, light years ahead today's soulless plastic sound.- Edited 2 years ago

An absolute triumph for techstep and drum and bass as a whole, probably the crown jewel of that era in my opinion. Some may be put off by the more vocal tracks such as Accelerate or 20 Degreez which admittedly have not aged terribly well, but the rest of the album is just one slab of classic genre-defining techstep crunch after another. Highlights include Intasound, Brother, UNEASY(!!!), Focus, PBX, SEE RED(!!!), Sight Unseen, Phase Shift, Viper, damn stop reading this and pick this one up NOW on whatever format you can get your hands on it! NEEDS a proper repress treatment, never gets the recognition it truly deserves! TECHSTEP WILL NEVER DIE! referencing Magnetic (CD, Album) XLCD 125
idiots now could never produce tracks such as this.never, never no wayreferencing Magnetic (CD, Album) XLCD 125
The stand out tracks all carry vocals ... And after 21 odd years nothing has surpassed them.
Dark dreamy and hard edged.referencing Magnetic (CD, Album) XLCD 125

This, and Matrix's Sleepwalk LP are the prototype of neurofunk I'd say. - Edited 6 years ago

20 years later, still a timeless classic. Not every single track has aged well, but most of it is still stellar along with Sawtooth. - Edited 7 years ago

Jonny L's Magnetic is definitely one of those essential LPs in jungle and dnb that everyone should know.
It is very, very futuristic, dark, murky, future thinking, classy.
In a way it is also a bit disturbing.
Sometimes it emanates with paranoia, at least for me.
I guess the reception depends on listener's current mood. It can captivate you by it's beauty and energy, or it can overwhelm you and be a bit tiring (if so, then just grab his last "In a Jungle" LP, which will take you on the euphoric trip through a rave candy land, it'll cheer you up he he).
My favorite tracks are Brother (of course!), the first dnb tune which made me fall in love in this genre as a kid (next to the BC's China Cup) and Accelerate feat. Lady Kier.
Great album. referencing Magnetic (6×12", 45 RPM, Album) XLLP 125
