My favourite Koxbox album and the peak of their discography. I only want to add to the comments below that for me this extremely psychedelic album conjures a unique atmosphere of tropical psychotropism; can we call it psychotropicalism? It is possibly the closest any music gets to the humid claustrophobia of the streets of "Bladerunner", even beating out Vangelis, or summoning up the misty river of "Heart of Darkness" or "Apocalypse Now". It reminds me of Talking Heads' "Remain in Light", which also has this very steamy, sultry atmosphere thickened by political intrigue. Any work which can almost single handedly create its own genre and milieu, psychotropicalism in this case, is an artwork worth taking seriously. ~*~

Just picked up the vinyl version recently, and was x-fading tracks on the mixer with my old cd version... can confirm that the mid and bottom end warmth of the vinyl really stands out and give a fuller, more energetic perspective. Great pressing that with all that, still keeps the top end sparkle of the bird-like sounds that are so typical of this release. A bona fide classic rediscovered.

One of the best Blue Room releases ever. The vinyl version amplifies background and some rhythm elements of the tracks. You will notice Koxbox clarity with this LP that was never captured as well to CD format.
This will make you appreciate the talented artistry of one of the top trance groups of all time!

I came in contact with goa trance two years after this album has been released, and listened to it for the first time in 2008, 10 years later. If I knew what I have missed all these years ...
Anyway this is the greatest album I've heard for a long long time. Also the artwork, as already mentioned above, is stunning, it's always a pleasure to look at it while listening. Favourite tracks are 1, 2, 3, 6!, 7!!.

Must be one of the most psychedelic albums ever!

Koxbox (aka Psychopod) have released two albums in 1997 – the Headlines EP under their Psychopod alias and Dragon Tales. While the Headlines EP is more for the feet than for the mind, Dragon Tales however tackles both. One can hear the similarities between the two albums but Dragon Tales has a unique sound which creates a unique atmosphere which probably no other album manages to create. This is an incredibly hypnotic album from the beginning to the end with an infinity of sound layers and multiple psychedelic effects making all tracks a fantastic trip into the deepest realms of psychedelia. Sorry, but picking up a favourite is impossible!

There’s a very attractive cover art complementing this release, would liked to have seen this in digipak format.

Another essential ninety’s psychedelic masterpiece from the Danish masters. Start hunting it now if you don’t have.

It's very rare I can recommend an album and say that all the tracks are absolutely masterpieces... When this album was released, I was totally blown away hearing the creativity in this album. At the time it was released, it got mixed feedback from the global Goa trance scene, because it brought something new to the scene; less typical Goa melodies and more far out psychedelic vibes than we had ever heard in this scene before. But, the album has grown on people, and is now considered as a real classic in the psytrance/Goa scene worldwide. Back then, Koxbox was three guys, something I feel helped to make this album to such an outstanding result. Peter Candy with all his creativity, Ian Ion the studio wizard and Frank E with his crazy ideas made them to dream team! Back then, I had the honour to see the three of them live at a rave party in Oslo, Norway, where they served most of these tracks. A live set that made me go totally mad on the dancefloor. I have actually never danced like this ever since! It was the ultimate head trip to listen to these tracks on a great soundsystem. What a memory! To my frustration, I was filmed by the national TV (without knowing it) while I was dancing, something that was shown on the next days news, focusing on drugs related to rave parties... Phone calls from family, friends, teachers etc came in, wondering what the hell I was on... Anyway, after this album Peter candy left the band, and Koxbox took a new direction with more minimal sound. This album is my best memory from 1997, with a unique sound which will probably never come back... Those were the days! Also the cover art is wonderful. A must have album for everyone interested in the psychedelic side of electronic music.

Welcome to Psychedelia mayheem from Danish act Koxbox in their prime! There is no other way around it. If you are into psychedelic trance this album is an absolute must (together with Koxbox' previous album Forever After) setting a milestone of psychedelia for years to come.

I really should go through these tracks one by one as they all deserve a comment; D.M.Turner for its psychedelic twists, Electronic Brainwash for its melodies, Doktor Mesmer for its cool, Life is ... for its killer beat etc. Words will not justify, however. You just have to hear it to realize that Koxbox never got better than this.

Beware that Dragon Tales does not sound like your average nineties psychedelia, though. Both sound and qualitywise Koxbox was in league of their own. Their sound on this album is more of a laidback type of psychedelia and more for drifting away than head-on dancing.

So kick of your shoes, open your ears & mind and let the prime of ninety psychedelia take you in. Mothership bordering now ... ;o)

I heard this album during my punk years back in '99 and I was absolutely stunned, I couldn't believe this kind of music exists. To me this is still the best goa trance album I've heard.
The sounds here are incredibly psychedelic and the atmosphere is just hypnotic. It tends to set you in ver weird mood with every listen. I hope there were more music like this.
Have to mention that the cover art is just beautiful.

One of the most psychedelic albums in electronic music (just look at that cover). A very unique sound that reminds me of insects for some reason.
