I prefer the album versions of Truly and Underwater but not a bad compilation anyway. The new tracks are better than anything they've written since this Best Of came out espacially Paris, wich is awesome.
By the way it would be nice to hear remastered versions of Semantic Spaces and Karma and their early stuff as well.referencing The Best Of (CD, Compilation) 0 6700 30377 2 3
Below & Inside on remixing duties twice is torturous enough in and of itself. :X- Edited 14 years ago

If this is the "best" of Delerium, it makes me wonder what I was buying all these years. I'd take 1991's Euphoric over this compilation any day. Everything after 1997 just seems like bad Karma.

OK, so at least two of you disagreed with the original review. What could there possibly be to disagree with? A fan of Delerium would probably be more interested in the huge backcatalog, not sanitized and fluffed remixes crafted by experts in filler and making everything sound the same in order to appeal to a wider audience which responds well to music only when it sounds like every other song in their worthless collections.
I don't personally know anyone who really values compilations and best of's, other than the big 4 music pimps hiding behind the record labels -- it costs them next to nothing and they get to resell the same stuff, arguably inferior product and people happily shell out piles of hard currency for it.
While this is certainly a less horrid collection than Odyssey: the Remix Collection, which will make any sane person with taste and refinement run from the room in which it is playing, screaming in horror and vomiting profusely from ears and mouth. Not only does it contain one turd of simulated euphoric trance after another, like a single track on repeat, it's got the undeniable "what's that smell?" taint of the world's most talentless narcissist, DJ 'no umlaut' Tiesto all over it like pedobears to toddlers. That collection of gangbanged tracks, many of which were actually very good before being systematically butchered, homogenized and injected with slow-acting poison.
Do yourself a favor. Just don't. And you two smart guys who disagreed, have you even listened to the best of repackaged (now featuring extra SUCK!) filler by everyone but Bill Leeb & Rhys Fulber since I wrote my review? I doubt it. Because it's really not all that great, is it?
Why do these people produce such uninspiring remixes? Why do they remove everything that made the original tracks stand-out recordings that rewards the listener, replacing it with cookie cutter beats and breakdowns, prefab basslines and pointless vocoder processing with all the settings maxed out? Because they can't create anything of their own, so they systematically destroy the recordings made by artists who can. And at least two people are overjoyed to pay for it! Who's laughing now?
