          A near miss in the masterpiece category, this outstanding underrated gem is both captivating and pioneering in the musical genre of Electronica. Hidden away on what's referred to as a mini LP resides 40+ minutes of blissful, gently mind-bending music to enjoy forever. This album is wonderfully homogeneous. Orb are masters at presenting an enjoyable story with the audience. We sit back and we listen and we visualize the plotted scenery and characters conjured by scientific and creative minds.
          There's no better way to hear this than on vinyl. The mastering is superb. Fall deep into another world. These transmissions have an otherworldly sound and are so well put together in the jest blunt manner of expression honored only to Orb. Enjoy this one after hours in the darkest part of the night.

                Pomme Fritz is Alex taking the piss (in punk fashion) on the press and wishy washy fans, for The Orb to not be positioned and shelved as a "new age" artist commercially, nor to record redundant tracks with the same formula (which were beginning to sound dated amongst the arrival of progressive IDM).

                    Menu item should have been called Pömme Fritz (ala Alles ist Schön!) Serves as an interloper between two great Orb dishes: UFOrb and Orbus Terrarum.

                      For me, the most notable part of this album is that it serves as a clear divider between a great body of work (all those albums that came before it), and a collection of work that was really quite poor (every album from this one on).
                      The Orb really produced some inspired work, but they seemed to reject everything that had gone before and decided they could get away with releasing just about any old s*** (point to dissenters - the sales figures agree with me not you).
                      Perhaps they felt they could move away from their earlier content towards the space occupied by Eno and other experimentalists. Perhaps they thought they could do their own "Music for Airports" in a modern context ? I think what is clear is that they had an exceptional ear for picking out and mixing great music that others had created. No more.

                        The second disc here is marvelous. If you didn't like "Pomme Fritz" the first time around, get the reissue (available digitally for VERY cheap) and enjoy the second disc's worth of mixes/outtakes. It's just more high-quality early '90s Orbness, served sunny side up.
