Janet* – Janet.

Janet’s classic album. Changed the game. Was a whole vibe for 3 years. The volume in this pressing is a little low but overall a good pressing. Love the clear vinyl.

At least they could have fixed the bad cues on every track from the original CD. This new edition sounds exactly the same as the first edition, no remastering made twenty years later.

So did anyone else get two copies of the third disc with the b-sides and mixes and NOT get disc two from Racism to the end of the standard album?

sound quality is considerably worse than my see through clear vinyl. its not horrible but when this came out it was 99EUR, glad I got it for 50% off. if given the choice I would prefer to listen to my clear version any day for sides ABCD.

Sounds really good, however, this was not worth the price at all. The 3 photos included are not rare at all. In fact, two of them were single covers. Her label made it seem like there would be a booklet of rare photos or something. I only bought it because I didn't have any of the album. If you have the standard version, you aren't missing much.

I am a huge Janet Jackson fan who collects her discography and random bits of memorabilia and merchandise that surfaced throughout her career, so when I saw that this album got a deluxe reissue, I knew I had to get it because this is my favorite Janet Jackson album! I'm going to first review the overall album since most spectators want to know another buyer's opinion on that over than the opinion on how the reissue should've been released lol. In my opinion, the sound quality of the songs, especially the new tracks are good and listenable. It was a nice touch that the three B-Sides as well as the "You Want This" rap remix featuring MC Lyte was included since they are not easily obtainable to listen to online aside from Youtube. The additional photos are also a nice touch but I personally would've liked to see some more photos that were taken for the album that didn't weren't released or photos that were taken throughout the eras such as music video outtakes and stills, interview appearances, and concert photos.
Now, I wish that Janet's team promoted this anniversary more than a few social media posts. I do agree with the other reviewers that the track list is lackluster and should've been something much more than what the final product is. So, I took it upon myself to come up with what I personally feel like would've been great for this deluxe edition:

Despite the additional songs that we were given, I am just happy to purchase something from Janet, Miss Jackson! :)

One of the worst, uninspired deluxe editions I've ever seen. This album deserves so much better.

The sound is pretty narrow and sounds kinda bad, like an FM radio on the more up-beat songs but much better on the slower ones.

Agree with others. I’m a huge Janet Jackson CD collector and remixes fanatic. I didn’t buy this one: Boring Edition, Boring Tracklisting, Boring Ideas!

Cherry Red Records should’ve carry this responsibility instead, as they have proved that they can make AWESOME content for Deluxe Editions. See their effort for Kylie Minogue’s 3 PWL albums: Collector’s Wet Dream Come True lol!!

So please.. back to the drawing board for Janet reissues!!
