Notes

The Vengaboys' international debut album, first released in October 1998 in Europe and throughout 1999 elsewhere. It replaced the original debut album Up & Down - The Party Album!, which only got an official release in a few countries, most notably the group’s home country The Netherlands. To distinguish this second release from the former, it was named Greatest Hits! Part 1 in The Netherlands and Poland. In some regions this international debut album was also named Up & Down - The Party Album! (or something similar), while it's known as Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! in Thailand.

Up & Down - The Party Album! peaked at number 4 in the Dutch Album Top 100 in July 1998, before being phased out in October of that year, when the international debut album was released. This album entered in the Dutch Album Top 100 in November 1998, making the top 10, and ultimately staying at number 1 for three weeks in May 1999, on the back of the number 1 hit single We're Going To Ibiza!. It went to number 1 in Portugal and Malaysia as well. It sold more than a million copies in Europe alone, but was also highly successful in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and India.

The most notable differences between the original Up & Down album and this release is the tracklist. This second release includes the songs Ho Ho Vengaboys!, Movin' Around, Overwhelm Yourself, The Vengabeat, Paradise, Superfly Slick Dick, and To The Rhythm, none of which are included on Up & Down - The Party Album!. Initial pressings also include the first version of We're Going To Ibiza!, which is different from the hit version, released in March 1999. It was replaced by the more familiar Hitradio Mix on subsequent pressings. There are additional variations to the tracklist in some territories.

Singles included in this release:
Parada De Tettas (single version)
To Brazil ! (single version)
Up And Down (slightly longer version)
We Like To Party! (The Vengabus) (single version)

Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! (single version)

We're Going To Ibiza! (original version on 1998 pressings, single version on 1999 reissues)

This album means a lot to me. As a child, somewhere in the beginning of the 00s/late 90s, I got hold of a copy (I don't know which one it was Greatest Hits or The Party Album). This album introduced me to the world of trance, "techno" and a little bit of Garage.

The first 7 tracks are cheesy and fun, good memories. But the tracks after the 7th track are out of this world. It is so different than those first tracks. Later on (and today) I still play these tracks. My favorite must be "Overwhelm Yourself" which has that Trance-vibe. When I DJ a Trance-set and it comes up. I play it.

"Moving Around" is another classic track for me. It has that trance-vibe and a nice uptempo beat. It was produced by Pronti & Kalmani who would entertain me later on with projects such as Alice Deejay and Candee Jay.

If you haven't heard this one and you're a sucker for 90s eurodance/trance. Please try it. Even for the newcomers; try it and be amazed.

I need to give my opinion. I need it! Vengaboys are SMART. They saw their meme potential, they encouraged it, they retweeted any bedroom dance that was done with We Like To Party or Boom Boom Boom Boom, they created new videos and they created the most hype I have seen during the lockdowns for their comeback. Now this work which is 100% eurodance is becoming sought after and missed.

Though it is eurodance, pure and simple.

Having said that, apart from the tunes, because it has them. check "Paradise" which can fit on so many sets for so many dekmantelish djs. It probably can be played in Panorama bar and you would not be kicked off the cabin as you would playing a hip hop vinyl

EDIT: credit where it's due: most of the tunes are from the hands of Danski & DJ Delmundo, at top of their euro powers at the time. Even when later hits like Rocket to Uranus are still good, there is better craft in here.
