- Edited one year agoI absolutely love this album. I think it's my most played Vangelis record, with Conquest of Paradise, Bladerunner, Soil Festivities, Direct, China, Antarctica and See You Later. After years and years I still listen to this album monthly. It has a great mood, gorgeous sound, with no weak track on it. I wonder if there will ever be a vinyl version....not that I need it, but I would definitely buy it.
- For me - his best album. As much as I like electronic music, I've never been a great fan of analogue Moog-driven electronica, except for some... well - exceptions :)
And I also find Vangelis' later works to be pretentious, overblown and campy.
This one, though, hits the sweet spot for me. After the pompous and dramatic start, the album gently lands and flows peacefully till the end. The track "Echoes" is pretty much an ambient remix of "Voices", overshadowing the original. That one, and also "Come to me" and "Ask the mountains" are the ones that I keep coming back to years and years after I've first heard them. - A highly underrated album. The collaboration with Stina Nordenstam on this CD is probably the best Vangelis/vocalist team up in his long history. It's a shame they never worked together again!
- Another good album by Vangelis, relaxing, melodic, uplifting, and environmental, there's a good variety of themes here. Good work overall !
