- Mine came new with an insane scratch on A1 right out of the shrink, causes needle to skip entire revolutions for almost 30 seconds. Incensed.
- I also get some noise in spots, only distractling on part of Chelsea girls. Sounds great otherwise though
- Edited one year agoJust picked this up from LA's Famous Amoeba Records on Sunset. I don't know what the complainers are complaining about. Some surface noise in the dead wax is largely unavoidable with vinyl and subject to your playback kit. What stylus you are using impacts as much as the pressing. On my kit, the vinyl delivers good sonics, clear reverbed sound stage, and excellent separation of vocals and backing instrumentation. The only way to fully eliminate ALL surface noise is to devote your collection to CDs and/or digital download/streaming, and deal with the clipped sound and loss of full dynamic range. Compare the vinyl to a Airplay from AppleMusic and then comment. This is a fine reissue of a classic and legendary recording session. Thank you Jackson Browne.
- Unfortunately have to echo this is a terrible pressing, full of non-fill, lots of surface noise. It calms down at points but it's really bad, mastering is decent so if you luckily got a defect free copy this could be a cheaper alternative to originals, I'd still take this crackly reissue over the terrible 4MWB pressing though
- Bad pressing. Tons of pops and vocal distortion that isn't there in other presses. Bought it brand new
- I went through two different copies of this pressing. Both played with TON of popping noises and scratches all over the place, even though they were brand new. Had a low wooshing noise in the mix through the entire album too. I eventually gave up on this pressing, and wouldn't recommend it to others. Going to give the Polydor/Back to Black 2018 pressing a shot next, since I've had good experiences with BtB.
- Very good reissue. Sound is clean and punchy. Pristine pressing. Much, much better than my previous 4MWB reissue (which sounds like crap).
- Pretty good reissue. Pretty plain packaging but the cover looks good and it's nice to have a reissue with the blue Verve labels. My copy has some surface noise but nothing major and definitely much less than my 70s UK pressing I had. The sound is also very good, balanced and dynamic like it should be
