Pink Floyd – The Division Bell

I have an unofficial version on blue wax that’s not listed anywhere. The reason I’m commenting on this version is that it has the exact matrix and barcode but the whole matrix is stamped not stamped and etched. It comes with a plain white inner and separate printed lyric sheet. Has anyone else seen this version before?

Referring to the 1st UK press, to the sleeve type in circulation, the one with the glossy sleeve was the first one to be put out on the market, the other, with a matte sleeve, was the second one (most common, as it seems, to me).
Somewhere, it was also stated, but I no longer remember, where I read it(it was a few years ago).
An apposite entry should be created, perhaps.

The edited version of "Coming Back to Life" and "High Hopes" on this orginal press completely spoiled the album. They've shortened the final guitar solo of both songs which are the best guitar solo songs on the album for 1 minute each! That's enough reason for me to look for the reissued version.

A beautiful album and a great pressing! Of course it's too long for a single record, but it still sounds great if you manage to get a very clean copy and crank up the volume. I actually prefer it to my 2016 double record remaster, the dynamics and tonality are stunning on this original. I used to have a VG copy of this that was quite noisy and had some minor issues, and apart from the pleasure of owning an original, I kinda regretted the expensive purchase it was. Having another copy now that actually looks and plays NM is an absolute delight, and I know they're very pricey, but it was certainly worth it. Overall grade for this original UK pressing: 9/10

Being in the minority that thinks this is a good album, a lot of what pisses Floyd and general rock fans off about it actually endears me to it. Some of it is painfully overwrought, and has that sort of tacky, Phil Collins-y plasticness to it, but it's a good chunk of that spacey ambient-rock that is right up my alley, especially "Poles Apart", "Take it Back", and "Wearing the Inside Out". The latter is easily my favorite here. Mostly because of the super smooth synths and bass, and Richard Wright's distinctive voice here shows his age; he really sounds like an old hermit. "Cluster One" and "Marooned" are almost pure ambient, not what a typical Floyd fan wants, and I don't understand why, because a lot of their music is very atmospheric. Songs like "Echoes" and "Dogs" have a sensibility towards atmosphere and quasi-musical soundscapes that ambient music does. So these two tracks are an exercise in that, and love them. "What Do You Want From Me" is a pretty vanilla bluesy rock song, but I like the strain in Gilmour's voice. "A Great Day For Freedom", "Coming Back to Life", and "Keep Talking" were the three songs I always tended to ignore because of that aforementioned stadium rock veneer.

What's strange is that, as divisive as this album is, "High Hopes" seems to be even a fan favorite, and looks like a lot of people consider it a decent enough sign-off. So it's like they were going out with a whimper but turned it around in the last 9 minutes.

Long time fan of Pink Floyd. The first time I heard the Division Bell, I was in Old Mexico and the music was coming from the USA!! I was on a fishing trip with 6-7 buddies & just before we rowed our boat across the Rio Grande River & onto the Mexico side....I pulled the cellophane off of my new CD & pushed it I to our stereo & cranked the decibels. What a pleasant surprise as the music was better than my fishing. I labeled it their modern "Dark side of the Moon" based mostly on the fact there were no undesirable songs!! My 2nd fave Pink Floyd album.

I must emphasize that some of the comments are utterly misleading.
I suspect they are just trying to decrease the value of this beautiful pressing.
It is crystal clear and dynamic.

Don't pay the stupid scalper prices. The in print version is split over 2 discs, so sounds better and is still all analogue mastered by Doug Sax.

Crystal, rich and clear sound in this version. Absolutely amazing pressing, the best quality record in my collection.

This record version sounds terrible. The 2LP versión is better
