Notes
The booklet and tracklisting as provided on the cover sleeve contains a lot of errors:
Unlisted intro vocal is Rhythm Controll - My House (Acapella)
Unlisted between tracks 1 and 2 is Yo Yo Honey - Groove On (DJ Pierre Wild Pitch Mix)
Track 2 is called "Musik Express" on the sleeve.
Track 4 is called "2 Fat Guitars" on the sleeve.
Track 6 is credited to "Fishtail" and called "Get A Witness". It however was released as "The Fish Tail E.P." by "Disco Revisited" via Serious Grooves. The track is just called "Witness" there.
Track 12 is just called "Acperience" on the sleeve.
Track 14 is credited to "Tribeca" in the sleeve notes (which was the US label releasing This Side Up).
Track 16 is just listed as "Millionaire Hippy - The Man Himself" (out October 93 on Deconstruction).
Track 20 is credited only to "Tyler Watson" and the track is called "Red Light". The track was released as "Red Light Featuring Tyler Watson" and is called "And Then".

- Edited 5 months agoInbetween track 1 and X-Press 2
there is clearly another tune with the vocal hook "and the music takes you high"
Therefore X-Press 2 "Muzik Express" is track 3 and every track after that is a number above it's listing.
I had this CD back in the day and can't remember if it was trackmarked.
*Unlisted between tracks 1 and 2 is Yo Yo Honey - Groove On (DJ Pierre Wild Pitch Mix) - Edited 6 months agoDanny Rampling is an elder statesman of the UK acid house scene. A nipper back then, my introduction to him was when he hosted the LGDP on the radio in ‘94/‘95. I often taped his shows: he’d start the evening with soulful house and round off the final half hour banging out goa trance. He was terrific
So, to this JDJ mix 🤨
... it’s a car crash
an unpalatable mess, still painful three decades on. - Is the legendary rumour true that this was mixed by Danny's 80 year old tone deaf Grandma? She was an infamous underground DJ in her time smashing records together before pitch controls were invented.
- There's loads of Dj's loads of people don't like. I don't really see the point in wasting time, being negative and going on about it. Danny wasn't perfect but he still is in my top five ever Dj list despite what anyone says
- This album was no "train wreck", as stated. It captures all the energy you'd expect from Danny Rampling back in 1993. Sure, the mixing ain't too great but for me, this is all about the party vibe. The feel to this album walks over many perfectly blended CD's hands down and is a pretty accurate reflection of what you'd hear in most UK house clubs in this era. A great CD in my opinion.
- Edited 13 years agoFirst time hearing this. I know its a bit late in the century but I thought i'd comment for the laugh. Danny is not typically known for his mixing skills and this really shows here. A simple shake of the wrist with the cross fader and were into the next track, sublime stuff indeed!!
In comparison to journeys with John Digweed their really was no competition, john was an amazing mixer and track selector from the very beginnings, although most including Oakey had to have at least 6 cheesy vocal house records at the start of their sets for some strange reason then move onto a more trancier sound towards the end. It seemed like everyone followed this routine of doing things.
Ok back to this train wreck of a mix. The songs on here make me feel ill. From the first 11 tracks the only one worth remembering is Eskimos & Egypt - uk-usa as they’ve done some fine music in their time. Then after the rest of the trash we get hardfloor - acperience 1, which sticks out like a sore thumb in the mix of things. And when I mean mix please listen to the transitions on here they’re hilarious!!
People say it wasn’t about the mixing back in the day (which I understand) and it was only about the music. well sorry Danny u got both wrong. You loose!!
