- Is this the Same Pressing like the 2008 collectors Edition Black Vinyl Pressing?
Don’t Know that this one was released on Black Vinyl in 2004 - I had posted a review of this pressing 5-6 years ago but I don't know what happened to it... My copy sounds absolutely fantastic and just mops the floor with the CD I've had (and listened to dozens and dozens of times) since release. There is no distortion other than what Slipknot intended in their masterpiece of an album. I still remember the first time I put this on and cranked it to '11'. I was simply in awe and never imagined any Slipknot album could sound so good. 10 out of 10 for sound quality and unlike anything I've ever heard (I have 3 of their albums on vinyl, none better this on SQ).
- This version actually sounds good. I had a copy a couple years back that I thought sounded like garbage. Just bought another and I’m actually impressed. Sounds just like the clear one. 0 benefit and 0 downfall to this press. I prefer black vinyl and the quality of the sleeve better but that’s about it. 8/10
- Edited 2 years agoDon't know what's up with all the negative reviews. 'Vol. 3' is infamous for being brickwalled to begin with and none of the editions claim to be remastered. This version presents the album "as-is" and to my ears it sounds just right - clear and charming with all its apparent problems. The later RSD editions sounded more muffled - quite surprised they're mostly reviewed positively. No apparent background noise or groove distortions. Not to mention this version is more faithful to the original CD artwork: no individual band member photos, sure, but a proper back cover, "intermission" gatefold, labels and lyrics.
Though if €300 is the starting price today then yeah - no LP is really worth it. - Edited 5 months agoPretty fuzzy at times in the louder ranges, which on a band like Slipknot tends to happen on a few songs. Basses are punchy and the mid ranges are gorgeous however, but higher ranges tend to get noisy.
- Horrible sound. Totally distorted and practically unlistenable. Don't know about the original version, but forget this release.
- Wow!! i remember purchasing this for less than $30 at a chain store. If i knew they only made 2000 i woulda kept mine. From my memory i remember this pressing sounding pretty good and crankable. A bit on the dry side though no way worth over $100+ imo...
- First time in my life I see with my eyes so MINT & PERFECT vinyls & they finally sound so crappy, like French fries. Bad experience.
