Reviews
- Edited 12 years agoTo me, this is the greatest LP of the 1990s by a band (excluding electronic genres) due to the high quality of the songs, the absolutely fantastic production (listen to the cleanliness of the bass that you can listen to without any clipping), the high quality of the original vinyl, and a wonderful balance between instrumentation and space between the drums. The keyboards shimmer as if they come from Asgard (any SG-1 fans will get it), the bass dominates as if from Mars, and the guitars as if they're being broadcasted from the heavens.
Listen to this LP for the first time with an open mind, in your room, sitting down and not doing anything. The first time I heard it was on a long road trip by myself. It can be said that this album is one of those rare examples that bests their influences, instead of mimicing them.
As always, stray away from Plain Recordings, the worst reissue plant in the history of vinyl, and either track down an original copy from this site or ebay. If you want their vampire squid quality, go for it. Your ears and wallet will suffer greatly. There are plenty of copies of this around, spend alittle more if you're a vinyl person or track down the CD> (Do not get the BMG rpessed version, as there is a skip on Angel Sigh).
All in all, the greatest album of the 90s for me in the traditional rock and roll band era.
