    This is a nicely produced box set, but the LPs I've listened to do not sound nearly as good as the originals. (That seems to be reflected in the resale prices.) Given how cheaply NM originals of all of these can be had, I'd strongly recommend going that way, if you don't already have these. If you do, save your dough.

      How come "Heijira" was not included? It was released on Asylum in '76. WTF!

        This is a lovely box set. The music is great but the sound also seems well-recorded and mastered, with a nice bass that kicks in a few times where it is present. Vocals and guitar are wonderfully presented. The live album often sounds similar to the studio albums as Joni’s presentation is so natural and good live.

        My experience seems different to many others on here because my albums are flat, well-centred, with very low surface noise and perhaps 2 or 3 pops over 10 sides of vinyl. No problems like low-fill at all. Wet cleaned, as always, with a ProJect VCS Alu.

        In my experience Optimal seem to be one of the best Eurozone plants, with most stuff I have being consistently high quality, bested only by Pallas.

          Dissapointing. Average quality sleeves, pressings OK but no better than the Rhino pressings. Joni really deserves some Analogue Productions quality attention.

            I returned Joni's first album box set because of the atrocious reimagined Seagull, but I feel fortunate with this set. Every record is flat and looks perfect. Sounds great too!

              Too bad, no tip-on, no RTI, so no reason to buy this set for me. The Reprise years were top quality, so why pinch pennies here?

                Excellent quality overall, I generally find optimal to be better than GZ and they don't disappoint here. The only real difference from the first box set is that these are not tip-on jackets everything else including the mastering is excellent. The sound quality easily beats the sound on the copies they replace, I don't have the Bellman masters or originals to compare them to but like the first box set the sound is detailed and warm, with lovely bass. Highly recommended

                  Not one LP is flawless with the two copies I have had so far - lots of non-fill, and on the only LP without non-fill (Miles of Aisles) there are numerous pops. What is going on with the pressing plants right now? The best mastering is pointless with such bad quality pressings. Frustrating, disappointing and really a shame with such outstanding and absolutely unique music. Optimal owes a big apology to Joni and those who admire her work.

                      My copy of ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns’ had both visible and audible non-fill, which is par for the course with anything that comes from Optimal. They are terrible at pressing records.
