Reviews
- Edited 19 years agoAs far as remix albums go, this is Virgin America's attempt to try and tap into the American mainstream consciousness - with "mixed" results, literally. My biggest gripe with this album is the placement of the songs. It's almost as if Mr. Nevins was ordered by Virgin to mix these songs exactly in the given order - OR ELSE! What happened to a little creative say in the process, huh? All those shifts in tempo - Jeez Louise! That said, he does an adequate (not perfect, mind you) job with his Pioneer CD Mixer; the model number's in the sleeve listings, so don't ask me off the top of my head. Besides, you get the Sander rub of Janet to kick off this comp; so that's a plus; and the Scumfrog's mix of "Days Go By" is just magnificent. Some will complain of the umpteenth use of "Lola's Theme" and "One More Time". Remember, though, this disc was made for middle America, folks - Omaha, Wichita, Boise - all those places that normally don't get to hear this kinda stuff. It's not meant to be the greatest mix CD ever - and it's not. But I hope Virgin learns from the plus and minuses on this disc in preparation for a possible volume 2 (and with Juliet, Kylie, and the Chems big now - March 2005 - it seems inevitable).
