Recorded 25 January 1993, Water Music Studios, Hoboken, N.J.
Ⓟ Ⓒ 1993 Marc Edwards
This exciting set from 1993 could just as well be a free jazz blowout recorded by the ESP label in 1967. Drummer-percussionist Marc Edwards is well-featured during the first part of "The Speed of Light," but otherwise allocates much of the solo space to altoist Rob Brown, who is in top form. In addition to the three trio numbers, altoist Cara Silvernail sits in on "Science Fiction" and is a major asset, playing the equal of Brown and uplifting the group in an exciting fashion. The music is often intense and very spontaneous, but the musicianship is impressive and the music moves forward purposefully. Recommended to free jazz collectors. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
Total disc time: 1 hour 10 minutes 10 seconds
