- Mr Atom Heart should be considered when mulling over contemporary producers. After being exposed to a staple feed of early Detroit, Acid, and Techno, Mr Atom has grasped the pioneering spirit and pushed the proverbial coconut envelope in many a direction, call it evolution if you like; however here on Flanger and EP2 the pair of knob twiddlers get the green light from Ntone Records but the release fails at take off, you cannot help think that Bert Freibank didnt play any part in this release at all. What happened here was Atom & Bert went for a dirve, Atom took the car up to 40mph then pulled over in a lay-by and stopped for no apparent reason. Bert paused then got out of the car and that was the end of that. Two years later the driving instructor Ntone - (Sub label of Ninja Tunes) decided it's a no risk middle of the road release let's put it out. I mean let's face it Atom Heart was bubbling up nicely with the media then, what could they loose? Anyway Flanger and the Flanger EP2 fail to reach the part's other records reach, it's a wibbly wobbly whisp of a jazzy electronic record that’s about as much use as a miner's two-pointed pick at a barn dance.
Only for die-hard collector's or those wibbly wobbly people who consider Mr Scruff eclectic.
