Reviews
- Does anyone know what year this was issued? CD players were not invented til 1984 so it couldn’t be before that.
- Edited 17 years agoYes fans hate this release because it's doesn't remotely resemble the any of the prog-rock band's prior output, which you'd find on the same shelf of LPs as The Who and Led Zeppelin. This is a Trevor Horn production complete with J.J. Jeczalik's signature Art of Noise Fairlight programming. This release fits comfortably with Trevor Horn productions of the era: ZTT records, The Buggles, ABC's 'Lexicon Of Love', etc.
Trevor actually joined the band, did the 90125 tour, and was often/always booed by audiences. Despite that disaster, '90125' found a new audience, had at least two tracks pounded to death by top-40 radio ('Owner Of A Lonely Heart' and 'Leave It'), and sold obscene quantities.
Though it's not an electronic album, don't dismiss '90125'. Not only is it a curious crossover event in electronic music's history, it's a pretty good listen.
