- Edited 6 years ago*System - KMC*... You know you love a track when you can remember the first time you heard it. Living in London, radio on... Bukem in the mix, chopping & cutting with the fader, Kiss FM 'Mother Of All Weekends' or whatever it was called around 1998. System played and blew me away - just classy stuff.
A deep tune... Key chords and a killer minimal bleep style break start things off before a slick beat gets the track moving. System rolls along in a head nodding style with chords and strings working well... Found on the first Progression Sessions CD by Bukem and stands out with it's minimal and polished sound. One to add to the collection.
The artist himself Keith Mcknight... rumour has it he's no fan of LTJ Bukem as they fell out over business. - Ahead of his time and pushing the boundaries. In a way the track is clinical and engineered to perfection at the same time it was non conventional in the way it rolls without a big breakdown or crescendo. A roller, probably one for the Headz and purists.
- Awesome tune,
One of the best tunes on the Good Looking label, great production and constructed amazingly. - Edited 8 years agoThe previous review on KMC's system does not do any justice on how great the track is / was at the time. To call this track "unfortunate" due to the "dated" minimalist style of KMC lacks context and perspective.
KMC's style was quite progressive and unique. It shows on Orbiting Probes as well as here in System. The track is a straight-through roller with no breakdown, which was quite rare and outside the GLR format. (Q-Project's Space-link also has no breakdown).
Too High is a nice mid-tier in repetition of 4 bar loops that progress with the pads and adds a punchy bassline. Despite featured on Progression Sessions 4, the track goes a little heavy on its repetitiveness. It's the type of tune that is a quick-mix filler or in-between mixes to shift directions of a set as opposed to showcasing the entire track.
