Henrik Schwarz / Âme / Dixon - D.P.O.M.B. EP - 29-Mar-09 11:39 AM
Innervisions never stops to amaze me. Sometimes i think seriously that these guys want to conquer the world. Be sure that Innervisions17 has nothing to envy to other massive records like "Balandine", "Where we at", "Secret weapons part 2" or "Back to my roots". Version 1 is a percussive track that always moves the floor, with catching samples and grooves. But honestly, this is not a track that will leave the sign. Fortunately i can't say the same for Version 2. The atmosphere which creates is unreal. I heard this track for the first time in Ibiza, during the last summer. I was at an unofficial party with the head of the island, Sven Vath as special guest. He took the form of a shaman in those minutes. Dpomb 2 has a wicked tribal touch that grows continuously, and leads into the breakdown accompanied by some very dark strings, anticipation of the flute that simply will leave you breathless. It seems like some kind black magic touched you.
Please, don't stop producing piece of art like this. Magnificent.
Basic Channel - Phylyps Trak II - 21-Mar-09 10:20 AM
After some years of electronic music experience i'm totally sure that BC-09 is one of the 10, maybe 5 best records in the history.
The A side is a repetitive 12 minutes trip through the techno side of Basic Channel's mind. This track is a train of contagious rhythm which no one techno lover can resist. You want to dance it from the beginning till to end. It's absolutely underground but it will rock every dancefloor everywhere, any time! Phylyps II/I is everything you should know about techno. The statement of pure Basic Channel techno conception, which remains very current.
If this is not enough, on the B side, we have maybe the best club track ever made. Not because i love it so much or it's masterfully composed, but because it contains the essence of the whole electronic modern club music. 5 or more years in advance. It's immortal. Practically a legend.
I'm surprised that someone gived to this record a "4" and not a "5". This is perfect stuff. Nothing less, nothing more. The apex.
Sincerely, i'm sure this record will have a place in a museum, one day.
Len Faki* - Delta Remixes - 12-Feb-09 04:24 AM
I have to disagree with the previous review... The Beyer remix isn't a bad work, it works really good in the clubs and has an excellent sound quality, but the real gem on this vinyl is the Sydenham & Rune's version. It's something like deep-groovy-fairy-tech-house... The breakdown comes suddenly creating a magic effect on the floor. All the synths, the beats and the effects are wonderful... But everyone already knows that Jerome Sydenham is a master of electronic music.
... However, this is only a musical-tastes issue!
Good record!
Reflekt Featuring Delline Bass - Need To Feel Loved - 05-Jul-08 07:16 AM
Club mix is a true gem.
The vocals are amazing, probably one of the best in the entire progressive-trance genre. Delline Bass is simply divine.
All the track is built with a peaceful touch that always carry me in paradise. The synth and the strings are very soft and refined, and match perfectly with the angelic voice. The melody... Yeah, it's not original, but it works really good... Damn, it always blows my mind away... So far...
I feel lost during the breakdown, delighted.
A must-have for every house, trance or progressive lover. Magnificent.
Holden & Thompson - Come To Me - 15-Jun-08 05:45 AM
Holden Amateur Guitar Mix.
In my opinion, one of the best Holden's tracks. For sure, this is the best version of Come To Me. The track has only one simple, flat riff played by the (very) sick (and not so) amateur Holden's guitar. Julie Thompson's voice here is distorted, delayed, it seems so far... And it sounds very good. As usual, the sounds, the effects, the structure... Everything is a model for all the electronic producers.
After the main theme, James changes idea and drifts to a damned prog-tech-acid march which makes the dancefloors burn like hell. Personally i love the mix of frightening sounds and Julie's laments so the second theme beats the first.
The only fault is the low speed! This version must be played always at +8% and it's just 126 bpm! Not a problem for home-listening, but a shame for club mixing...
By the way, if you love James Holden or if you simply appreciate upper-classy contemporary electronic music, you can't miss this mix. This is a true gift that Holden made for his fans.
Essential.
