Downtrend Shapes Renewal began working on “Truth, Beauty and Decay” after transitioning from making abstract to figurative painting. Specifically when creating Truth… Downtrend Shapes Renewal was adjusting to early mornings and lengthy commutes in winter.

“Beginning to make more literal works meant that I could no longer easily attempt to convey a feeling or atmosphere through an image without it being bound by the symbolism of the paintings’ subject. I decided to begin exploring sound, manipulating field recordings and tentative experiments with electronic music to create an intangible illustration of the feelings I had about certain things/scenarios that I could neither put into words nor explain visually.”
