Friedrich Adolf Krummacher

Real Name:Friedrich Adolf Krummacher
Profile:

German Reformed theologian and a writer of devotional poetry and prose. (July 13, 1767 – April 14, 1845).

He was the elder brother of Gottfried Daniel Krummacher and the father of Friedrich Wilhelm Krummacher and Emil Wilhelm Krummenacher.
Krummacher lyrics were partly set to music by Franz Schubert (Die Nacht).
Krummacher is best known as a preacher; and as the author of the well-known "Parabeln," first published in 1805. His hymns are little suited for church use, often being allegorical, and for the most part, they are not simple and direct. He was known in some cases to write in a popular, natural style. His hymns mostly appeared in his Festbüchlein, a work consisting of allegorical narratives, conversations, and interspersed hymns. The first part, entitled "Der Sonntag," was published 1808; part two, entitled "Das Christfest," in 1810 ; and part three, entitled "Das Neujahrsfest," in 1819.
