Long Island Records was founded in 1989 as record shop and mailorder company. In 1991 Long Island Records started wholeselling and was well known as import-wholeseller specialised for rock music. Two years later the first labels and artists signed their distribution agreements with Long Island Records. At the same time the company started to get in business with foreign territories to build up a web for worldwide distribution..
In late 1993 Long Island Records opened its A & R office in Canada. In August 1994 Khalil Turk joined the Long Island-team and opened the A & R office in UK.
The first album of the young Long Island label was released in January 1994.
After a long period of preparations Long Island Records started its Rock Classic series in October 1994 with re-releases of collectors items. During the first year 30 items were released and the Rock Classic Series became available to the whole world of rock music.
In September 1995 a new label called Long Island Rock Power released its first recordings, ranging from hard rock to heavy metal.
Two years after the first steps in distribution Long Island Records has compiled a catalogue of more than 300 albums.
Many things have changed in the history of Long Island Records and Long Island Records will continue to change the history of AOR & mainstream rock. But one thing will never change:
