Only a man like Squarepusher could take a cue from the genius that is Richard D. James, take his then-trademark style of drill'n'bass, and make his Warp records debut better than the man who practically invented the style. For those uninitiated, start your journey HERE.

"Port Rhombus" has literally everything; lush keys, lovely bass, drumfunk insanity. His finest track to date. Of course, the B-side is no slouch, either..."Problem Child" is jazz'n'bass at its finest: sick basswork and an amen so chopped up that it's barely recognizable; "Significant Others" is pure UK rave...a rhythm that'd break your neck complete with bells. One for the dancefloor, for sure. Pure, sparkling brilliance!

Along with FEED ME WEIRD THINGS this EP is an excellent introduction to early Squarepusher. The programming work here is fantastic and the melodic content (which Jenkinson purposefully now ignores) is what makes Squarepusher so bloody brilliant. Pick up the vinyl in purple if possible. All tracks were later compiled onto the US release of BIG LOADA (Nothing/Warp US).
