Supersuckers – Must've Been High

Forgot I had this. $9.99 in 1997 from Ear Wax records in Seattle. Tucson punks country album. Beautiful analog recording, warm and rich. I wish 80-90s analog recordings like this would be reissued more than they are.

I am dying to know if the record still gets 2x louder (exaggeration, hyperbole) when the rock part of Supersuckers Drive By Blues hits on the reissue - that trick on the original subpop is a mastering work of art

I was stoked to see this was finally re-pressed, as I almost pulled the trigger on a original many times.

I'm pleased to say this is a great pressing. Approaching dead quiet. The packaging is pretty bare bones, and even the label is pretty boring, but the pressing is good.

Just one weird quirk: Twice on side two between songs there is a little burst of noise before a drop into the next song, almost like the lead-in groove when you first put a record on. I've never encountered that before. It doesn't matter because it is between songs, but figured I would note it.

the trick of Supersuckers Drive By Blues being significantly louder than the rest of the album while being the last track on the side - that is a mastering master right there, that's like shifting gears in a standard without touching the clutch

Track 7 is first track on side B instead of last song on side A.

This is an outstanding press with a huge soundstage, perfect bottom end, mids and highs. I can rave enough about how crisp this is on vinyl. You can tell this is 100% analog
