Yep, my copy has pops and clicks all over the place too unfortunately. For me it takes out the joy of listening it..

My copy has pops and clicks all over the four sides but it doesn't disrupt the listening experience as this record is mastered beautifully.

At the threshold of timbral music minimalism (Max Richter, Hildur Ingveldardóttir Guðnadóttir, Stars of the Lid) which uses real stringed instrumentation in lieu of been-there-heard-that synth conformity, and the post-rock of Labradford, Eluvium have made an urgent yet immersive appeal to the senses that we ought to take more stock of. Rather exciting in its freshness, yet as old as Eno's Ambient series of the '70's, this is a splendid artefact and i am quite thrilled by it! I remember when ambient was fresh and exhilarating..not the "Must do an A-word album so as to prove to my nay-sayers that i can encompass that discipline" of sooooo many electronica musos. The Fall once stated 'Repetition in our music and we're gonna us it-ah' (on Repetition, natch) and repetition in minimalism is awesome...awe-inspiring. So it is here. Foggy soundscapes and frigid bow-stabs (on 'Taken') inspire images of frozen winter landscapes, denuded trees and crunchy frost underfoot. So be it. I love winter.

          So....in summary: buy this. Now.

Anyone got some insight into the quality of this pressing?

Is this pressing/remaster the same as in the Life Through Bombardment boxset?

Is it a reissue if it's never been pressed on vinyl before?

Eluvium is Matthew Cooper, who releases under Temporary Residence Limited. Eluvium is perhaps most known for his monumentally great album Copia (certainly very memorable) released in 2007 on the aforementioned label.

However, Talk Amongst the Trees happily sits along side some of the best output in ambient music, not all unlike Biosphere’s legendary Substrata or almost anything Brian Eno has composed. Really, quite simply put, if you’re as much as an ambient fan as I am, this is essential listening. The opening track “New Animals From the Air” masterfully sets the stage for the rest of this nearly one-hour long, eight track record; a gentle drift into an abyss of hazy gray fog on a chilly morning.

Upon listening to this for the first time a long while ago, “Taken”, is where this entire album just clicked for me. A seventeen-long minute epic of sprawling, drawn out features that lure its already contently-dozy listener into a hypnotic trance, vaguely similar to “Indoor Swimming at the Space Station” off of Copia; although the layers of feedback gradually increase by the time “Taken” has reached its completion (the latter ends smoothly with arctic wolf calls in the winter).

My personal favorite is the album’s conclusion track “One”. Very calm, relaxing music for a rainy day.

Matthew Cooper (Eluvium) states on his website that a new album is in the works and it is slated for release just after the new year. Spectacular news. No word yet on its title.

some of the best ambient you'll ever hear. put it on before bed and you're guaranteed not to make it past the first song. this album rivals biosphere's substrata and max richter's blue notebooks. utterly essential.
