Exit "EEE"* – Epidemic

I was expecting this track to be deeper than it is after I found a link to it comparing it to a great modern day techno track by Enrico Sangiuliano called Hidden T. No, not even close. Just when you think epidemic might have a hidden surprise and might find a new depth it moves into "Rave Mode" and that just ends it for me.

The "Original Mix" and the "Straight From Heaven Mix" are the same Mixes, even though the latter one has some additional 10 seconds at the end (both sound the same until approx. 5:08 mins, then the additional 10 secs kick in)

"Wheels of motion" is a decent track but doesn't have the artistic and historical relevance of "Epidemic" and at certain points is a bit monotonous. Just because a track has 303 bass lines doesn't make it a masterpiece. Anyone can fiddle with dials like a toddler. Having the musical awareness to integrate it into artistic coherence is something else altogether: e.g. Audio Assault - Acid Music; Essit Muzique - Essit Muzique.

Don't listen to idiots who "started listing to this stuff a couple of years ago." Epidemic is an all time trance classic, and "Dreaming of a Better World" from the CD release is pretty special too. Exit EEE are absolute legends but some of their fans are incredibly dense.

Together with tracks like Quench - Dreams, Datura - The 7th Trance and Legend B - Lost in Love, Exit EEE's Epidemic gave birth to a genre.

If you like Acid better than Trance, you'll prefer "Wheels of Motion" on this release, but try as you might, you can't deny the historical significance of "Epidemic," a pioneer Proto-Trance track plagiarized in one form or another a hundred times over.

To be honest, I never found anything special about "Epidemic" it tends to overshadow "Wheels Of Motion" which is for me, a killer phat acid trance track with stoppin' percussion and progressive 303's. Was one of my (and still is to this day.) favorite oldskoolers when I started listing to this stuff a couple of years ago and believe me, It hasn't aged a bit.

One of the first trance tracks I ever heard and one of the first vinyl records I ever bought. Original Mix is outstanding and I could easily say that it's Jürgen's and Ramon's best tracks. JDS remix brings some harder edge to the track with his remix plus percussion-wise very rich beat. 5/5 no doubt.

The "No Respect Mix" on the A-Side reminds me a lot of the track "Nightmare" by Brainbug. It uses a cello sample very similar to "Nightmare", and it is used throughout the tune.

It has a nice breakdown/nain break focusung on Breakbeat, and also has a catchy female vocal wailing "whoo-ooo-ou-oa!!" on the verses. Overall it is an energetic little Hard House number, and for a DJ it would be ideal inbetween two corking tunes as a little pick-me-up before the next banger!!

Jurgen Driessen and Ramon Zenker create a infectious trance classic with Epidemic, a very popular club ecstacy fuelled tune from the 90's.

The diamond though has to be " Wheels of Motion ", a much overlooked and unknown progressive acid trancer which sounds somewhat Hardflooresque and has a simple yet very effective drum beat pattern in it and a lovely crisp 303.

Wait for the middle of the track though when another cracking squelching 303 line comes in which drives and intensifies the track right to the end.

Not at all harsh but fantastic progressive acid stuff from 2 musical masters Jurgen and Ramon.
