Notes

Three versions of the green sleeved issue exist:
Version 1 (this one) - (Dark) British racing green, bronze type and border.
Version 2 (Ceremony) - (Dark) British racing green, bronze type and border. MVS re-issue of version 1.
Version 3 (Ceremony) - (Lighter) Forest green, gold type and border.

There were two different editions of the record released using this sleeve:
1) Original version of "Ceremony" (without Gillian Gilbert) (this one). Side A groove etching: "Watching Love Grow - Forever"
2) Re-recorded version of "Ceremony" (with Gillian Gilbert) (Ceremony). Side A groove etching: "This Is Why Events Unnerve Me".

This version of the record was released in the new cream & blue sleeve, but there were green sleeves left over from the original pressing which were used rather than being discarded.

The cover and runoffs of the record states the catalogue number as FAC 33 (the same as the 7"), but the label state FAC 33/12, denoting the 12" release.

Although the centre labels have the date 22/1/81 as part of the artwork, this release came out in March.

I purchased this album when it was release...it was and still is a monster of a pressing and sounds incredible. I also have most of the other original releases that came out in the 80s and 90s. Its cool that they are re releasing these but the originals are the way to go. Too bad I will never get rid of this until I am dead. LOL.

Wow quelle belle claque ! Même si je trouve le mix inégal, mais on s'en fout ! C'est tout le charme de cette période. Puissant !
Ma préférence va pour le ténébreux In A Lonely Place

You probably won't ever hear this song more beautifully than as it is on this original 12 inch single. Peter Hook's opening bass-line will blast through your speakers in the best way possible. This thing has a beautiful, wide and lovely soundstage. As a huge fan of this era of New Order, I get chills every time I drop the needle on this thing. I haven't heard the recent 180g reissue of this, but I can't imagine it sounding any better than this.

The green-cover version of Ceremony is so much better than the later version; more raw, more dynamic, more punkish.

In A Lonely Place does appear in two slightly different versions, corresponding to the different takes of Ceremony on the A-side of the various 12"s. It's only a slight variation in the vocal effects, but the difference is there.
