Reviews
- I agree with other people here. That is wonderful journey deep in man emotion and feelings. Near 10 years after still sounds fresh and wonderful. Rare example of good way of using technic for music creativity. Bravo !
- I still crank "Reach For Something Better" to this day. The J Wright mixed in doesn't bother me, Hypnotic, and trance like will put you in a good mood.
- Edited 12 years agoDave and Pete created with There! one of their best Move D/Namlook releases up to now. In DTS the release is an amazing experience. All the elements are strong and brought with a lot of confidence. From begin till the end you are in a flow.
In "Do you have any messages?" they really succeed in creating this optimistic "superman" feeling, like you can achieve everything you want. Very original and that is hard if you use Obama's famous speech.
"Reach for something better" is full of emotion due to its wonderful synth line and strong rhythm. Especially the way the track is buildup creates an "AWW" feeling. The radical words of pastor J. Wright which are mixed in at around 10 mins makes track even more intense.
The environment in "Stars and Stripes" is so fine and subtle. It is the perfect ending due to the deep percussion in combination with Namlook's melody a la his first two Air releases. - As you would expect, the prolific collaboration of Move D(David Moufang) and Pete Namlook is still going strong, making challenging music that listening to is a most pleasurable trip. This one is a curiousity and should go in the time capsule along with the first two Deep Space Network albums for the cool samples. "There!" is less ambient on the first two tracks opting for midtempo groove. The last track "Stars & Stripes" starts as complex ambient track with more subdued guitar, piano effects a soft distorted voice pleading "help me". There are shades of Harmonia on this track. Throughout the three long tracks are discretely used samples, most notably basso profundo treatment of Barack Obama's voice which is very appealing on "Reach For Soemthing Better". I'm not sure if it points to any political preferences, but it sounds wonderful and it sure did give me hope. There's some very tasteful guitar from Namlook that is adds texture and depth too. This is truly one of their best.
