Reviews
- Edited 3 years agoThe first record by legendary Hardcore producer, Conrad Hoyer. Before he was Ophidian, he was a mysterious new artist on Gangsta Audiovisuals, a Hardcore label doing its best to keep Artcore alive in a sea of slow Newstyle, oh I remember 1999. Conrad wrote these tracks when he was 17, DJ Ruffneck was his favourite artist, after sending him demos and feedback from Ruffneck, the final product was this diverse and highly underrated 4 track vinyl! Mixmasta is my favourite (the Hip Hop breakdowns are really nice) but Sumtimez is beautiful, great to start a set with. Soul Reaver is a reference to the 1999 Playstation game of the same name. The Hip Hop lyrics for Mixmasta come from a 1987 song by UTFO called, So Be It. The etching on the A-Side is a possible reference to an earlier Ruffneck Records tune by Pinhead. This was the last record to have the unique Ruffneck cover art: Distinctive black and white text at the top and bottom of the record with twisted visuals. A great record that was the beginning of an amazing artist who heavily influenced 21st Century Hardcore.
