Reviews
- Luke Vibert brings out a irresistible ballad with the titular "A Polished Solid"! So beautiful when I first heard it on "The Story of Mo Wax" compilation CD. The actual single was well worth it for a fiver. And with the chilled breaks "Radart" and the violin bouncing "Frog's Belly", this is a nifty little single!
- Luke Vibert's first release under his own name, A POLISHED SOLID, for the famed Mo Wax label, are three cuts of abstract hip-hop. The title track brings in some sax, but those disappear under layers of EQ sweeps and a looped sample saying, "Oh, Christ." Meanwhile, "Radart" sort of meanders in a pleasing way, and "Frogs Belly" lets loose the jazz, with a tinge of Wagon Christ cheekiness. An auspicious start.
