Mental Glue – Accuphase

The track to check out here is the title track, Accuphase. This "Hard Trance" tune is bookended with phat 909 kicks and a wicked Acid line that lashes the beat. However it's the entire middle section that elevates everything in my opinion. It's basically an epic melody, simple in design but sonically awesome, running the gambit of emotions: uplifting and happy but also sad with a touch of melancholy. Top stuff from Sweden. However, beware DJ's, during the intro beats, Accuphase goes out of phase twice making it a mongrel of a track to mix. I'd recommend starting the mix further into the track to be on the safe side. Accuphase is a Audio Equipment Manufacturer from Japan, and probably one of their products were used in the construction of this track.

Toxin is also a faster tune with a sound effect like a spaceship zooming over your head, loud hi-hats and a quirky Acid riff. Regulator is more straight Acid Techno, the whispering synth in the middle is the only thing interesting about this tune. Flow Short is another Hard Trance/Hardcore track. The quick sinister synth with odd percussion underneath is OK, but it does get monotonous after a while.

Taking into account Accuphase and Flow Short, I think there should be a Hardcore tag for this record. Accuphase would be a handy weapon for a Hardcore DJ. The other thing to mention here is that three of the tracks on this vinyl were made by famous Techno DJ, Adam Beyer.
