- These are the best sounding remastered by far. The
The Complete Albums 1970-1978 is the same remastered also. These are the ones to buy. Fantastic sound. - Black Sabbath 1970-1978, the Ozzy years complete!!! Can't go wrong here or can you? With the songs no way. This is prime Sabbath represented by eight stone classic albums. With the mastering, yes unfortunately. Rhino always gets the mastering right on their stellar releases, many of which I own. Here though, they miss the boat. These recordings are very tinny and bright and have a very processed feeling to them. Ditto for the Japanese paper sleeve remasters. To get the best sound pick up the Castle box set which has the exact same eight albums with mastering to die for. The Castle masters are very warm and analog sounding like the original LPs. The recording balance is very centered as opposed to the Rhino set which is somewhat hissy. Five stars of course for the music. Three stars for the mastering. Let me see...eight divided by two equals four which is what I will grade this release.
