Roy Orbison - There Won't Be Many Coming Home

Fantastic song made in the middle of the Vietnam war.
It fits neatly alongside other songs reflecting on the menace of war and as the rolling news of Ukraine arrives daily there are still too many not coming home.

Bought this for peanuts at least 10 years ago. I abuse CD’s as they usually only get played in the car. This stayed in the car for some time and came to mind recently when I was listening to Chuck E Weiss and subsequently Tom Waits and inevitably... See full review

Interesting to hear Toots after a few years away. I seem to remember an accident that threatens to end his career but hear he returns on Trojan Jamaica co produced with Zac Starkey amongst others. Zac on guitar and even Ringo on Tambourine. Feels like... See full review

This was on tastemakers playlists back in 67. Chas Chandler played Red House to Jimi Hendrix who made his mark on that song as he did with All along the watchtower. Jeff Beck , Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart had their go at Morning Dew but didn’t surpass... See full review

The Rolling Stones - Bridges To Bremen

I am listening to this on black vinyl nice and heavy pressing. I like the sound. I heard Bob Geldorf describe making music as creating a racket and that is certainly the story of the stones. This ain’t Dire Straights or Sting. These are the guys who... See full review

Really great album driven by the most part by Johnnie Johnson the pianist whose band included chuck berry. If you grew up with Chicago blues this takes those great British R and B artists as well as Taj Mahal back to where the started but now... See full review

have you read Tappy Wrights book? he allowed me to hold the Jimi Hendrix guitar that he had in the basement of his pub, and he had the album that contained RedHouse by Tim Rose in the raised DJ booth.
Steve Winwood - About Time

I love this album, it seems to me that despite having two percussionists and the extraordinary Brazilian Jazz virtuoso guitarist that this album places Winwood exactly where he intended, leading am ensemble to set down rhythms and melodies that take... See full review
