- A few people commenting about distortion and static on this release. Having just picked up a copy, I can confirm that Blue Nile has some rather significant and aggressive distortion throughout large portions of the track. Like, really aggressive. It sounded like a rat had found its way into my speakers.
I have a theory on this though. Blue Nile is essentially an alternate take of White Nile. The same solo order, everything. It's entirely possible that a recording error was identified during the sessions, and the piece was recorded multiple times. If you view Blue Nile as a bonus track, this makes perfect sense. It was included as a curiosity, not as an intended part of the album. Of course, with no liner notes to speak of here, its impossible to know for sure. But the good news is the distortion issue is only present on Blue Nile. The rest of the album sounds absolutely stunning; deep and clear, and with no other audio defects to speak of. Hope this helps! - Does anyone else have issues with distortion on certain of the tracks on this CD or is just my copy? I have a little distortion on White Nile and pretty much constant distortion throughout on Blue Nile which is a shame because the music is incredible. This could do with being pressed properly by a label that will do it properly in any event.
