All has been said about the music, but let's acknowledge this is one of the most brilliant sleeve design of R&S and maybe of all time. Clever, simple, elegant, and striking on shelves. It's a bit sad that the latest represses failed to keep the type work intact, as it was sophisticated and beautiful. There was lot of great designs for R&S releases, but this one stands on the shoulders of these giant artworks.

This is not that crappy term called the hoover sound.... This is Joey's SOUND! No one has ever replicated this exact sound ever! Powerful track with a B Boy velocity! That bass too! Think JUNGLE TECHNO or thank TECHNO jungle it's all Mind To Mind . P.s. If you mix this with Set Up System- fairy Dust. You have then two sounds which never properly got replicated! Now stop reading my warblings and listen ;)

To me Energy Flash and Mentasm are very similar to each other they both were released on the same era 1989-1991 . The materials used in that era were the same i agree some DJ/artists that were privileged enough to have new-pro materials were very rare in that time thus Joey Beltram is a great artist from it's time yes but sadly his pride was very short 1989-1995 .

Both of the the music Energy Flash & Mentasm were on ever clubs in Europa and were always used in mixing many time together because they were easy to mix in .....same as those techno/minimal techno from Construct Rhythm Records and Fine Audio Records were very easy to mix together since they used the similar sounds , riffs, 303, etc..

Today in 2018 Energy Flash and Mentasm has dated badly ......maybe because i have listened to it too much or because there were other better tracks in that same era .

According to Renaat of R & S Records speaking on the Belgian music documentary The Sound Of Belgium below this paragraph. Paraphrasing the said interviewee a week later he makes Mentasm (after Energy Flash). And already widely known Mentasm was subsequently officially released in 1991. If that indeed is accurate, it is quite remarkable how revolutionary this sound was whatever one thinks of it, especially if Mentasm really was recorded in 1990. Can't comment about when Joey Beltram and Mundo Muzique recorded Mind To Mind, but it is equally an eternal trip heavy mind altering classic whenever it was made and takes most of its expression from deeper Nu Groove Records origins.

Clip can be watched at approximately 1.05:29 on this link TSOB Renaat Interview

'Mind To Mind' is very early trance ... so early that the genre of trance even didn't exist ;-) ... a must have for the trance-lovers who want to dig deep in the genre of trance ...

I bought the reissue of this one a few weeks back.
Actually I didn't expect so much from it. I remembered it from the 90ies and I toughed it was one of those classics that would be fun to have in the collection but I would never put on. I was quite wrong.
Mentasm does sound a bit dated BUT Mind to Mind is a really really crazy tune and playing it loud from vinyl on a good stereo will melt your mind!

Mentasm is good, no doubts but I think Mind To Mind holds up better today. I would have no hesitation playing Mind To Mind in a set now. It's worrying, moving, thumping but yet far more tuneful. I remember hearing it for the first time some 20 yers ago and I had never heard anything like it and have heard little like it since. A steadfast favourite.
Mentasm is good but I'm 37 now. There was once a time and now isn't it.
