- I spent a good many years trying to i.d. 'Teknø Bam (Seismic Overload)' from this vinyl after being wowed by it on an ole Grooverider mix CD. Mainly because it features a very prominent amen break, which for a European release back in 1991 was quite a rare occurrence.
'Teknø Bam (Seismic Overload)' builds things up with some harsh stabs which are given a mauling with the sounds effects being twisted and then merged with soaring, heavenly synths and a nice little Run DMC vocal sample. When the track gets going it unleashes a thundering amen break to drive things along and get the crowd's feet moving. Things get interesting in the midsection where a familiar vocal rave sample gets added to the mix amongst some great little effects which make the listener think that a DJ is cross-fading between 2 records.
'Sonic Bogus' sounds far more typical of an early Euro-Techno track with an uncomplicated breakbeat, 'Set this sound on fire' samples and a melody which sounds like Snap ripped it off for their 'Rhythm Is A Dancer' track. A nice little pounder, though more ominous than banging. 'Boomin' & Bumpin' is in a similar vein, but more stripped down.
Definitely an A-Side release for it's thoroughly futuristic sounding and forward thinking title track. An essential buy for hardcore/techno crossover fans.
