- looking at the stats the etching does sound somewhat ironic lol to the point of saying if its not repressed you are hypocrites.😝
(comments like this tell you the reader this record is on the writers "wants" list & he/she is pissed at current price) 😫 - such a shame that the other repress never made it because of torchman tune, could they not have gone ahead with the others and to be honest,i wernt that fussed about torchmans tune ??
- Edited 7 years agoThe Pascal & Sponge Remix 2 of Dub War is by far my all-time favorite tune. From the "We are at WAR!" sample to the infusing of Human Resource's Dominator, everything about this version just resonates with me. I remember way back in the day carrying around the 93 Hype mixtape I first heard it on playing it for any DJ that would listen- trying to ID the tune! Everyone guessed Dub War but no one knew what mix. VIP dubplate bizness indeed. For years I moaned on forums that I wished it would be released and it was even ID'd as a Pascal & Sponge remix but after awhile I just gave up. Fast forward to 10 years (2013) after I semi retired from DJing. i began DJing the music I love again and in 2014 mentioned again on a forum (here) how it would be great if this tune was released. Unknown to me at the time was that it WAS released as limited white label (this record) in 2012, I nearly passed out when someone told me this- I had missed it by coming back a bloody year too late! To make it worse it rarely comes up for sale and quite expensive when it does. You might ask- "Why not just get a digital version? Surely someone would help you out?" See for me I have to get the record, hold that vinyl- its the only way I know how to DJ and the quest for this record has spanned 23 years! It would be so anti-climatic to just end up with a digital copy.
Well I can finally say in 2016 I captured my white whale! First thing I did when it arrived in the mail? You know it- I pretended to be Hype for a second (minus the scratch skills) and mixed right into 'The R' and was instantly transported back to my early 20's. I can't express what a feeling that was after such a long wait for this record and just how magical this music truly is.
The other tracks on this EP are also pretty incredible. Two versions of a unreleased Pascal track no one had except the big names back in the day and a remix of Tell Me. Quite possibly the most perfect EP ever created. Whoever is responsible for this you have made a middle aged man quite happy! - What a blinding plate. I was lucky enough to be given a copy prior to release. You see, the remixer lives in Australia. I just pinged him a message to ask if he'd like to respond to this thread. If not, I'll proudly say who he is.
Ratty used to smash the other tunes. Darkside business at work here people. I could go on about the tunes, but simply said, if you love the 93 darkcore sound, then buy it, if you can find it - for real! - Dj torchman.. I see you tried to have this mix of tell me removed, can you shed any light on where it can from or who did it ?
