In all those years i'm listening to oldskool hardcore rave music from 1991-1993, i never understood how this tune has so much appeal.
This is not even hardcore. It is ambient pads and very messy breaks on top, with an awful result. I can only call it proto- drum n bass. I guess if drum n bass existed in 1992, this is how terrible would have sounded. That's why it is called ''pennywise'' LOL
I never never liked this track.
The only great tracks from this label are ''Structural Damage – Really Livin'' and ''Freddy Fudpukker - Keep The Love Alive'' from Drink It In The Sun (Vol. 1) E.P. , but i as they say ''different horses for different courses''

First dated play of "Pennywise" i can find was by Grooverider at Perception 'Wonderland' @ Blackgrove Crossroads, Aylesbury on 10/07/1992 followed closely by LTJ Bukem at Interdance @ Sterns, Worthing on 18/07/1992

Story goes this was chipped off of The Charm’s De-Men-Tation which was produced almost 2 years prior! Banger regardless, definitely similarities.

Tidbit: First dj tape I ever heard Pennywise on attributed it to "The New Romancer". Feel the love!

Boom! They don't make them like this anymore... One of the most famous old skool tunes (deserves to be rated) around. Pennywise used to send people nuts back in the day. Showing it's age now - but a monster for it's time.

Smooth intro... then an enormous drop, snare kick with tempo that only lets up for the sample break... 'they all float down here'. Small bridge then back to the frantic beats. This was RINSED by any DJ worth their salt, big or small. Mixes well with Dance Conspiracy 'Dub War' or 'A Couple Of Beats' by LTJ Bukem. If you play an old skool set... guaranteed to bring the house down.

MASSIVE tune from back in the day. Somehow over the years I've ended up with 3 copies! Summed it all up for me back then, the drop on this tune brings back the good old days.... Nice one Mickey!

I have to agree with all of the other reviews. There is something magical about this record , even 20 years on and listened to over 1000 times i never get bored of it .Essential.
