How’s the remaster sound?? One of the greatest cover images …- Magnificent album, an absolutely fantastic blues rock bomb. What makes the entire record extra interesting, is the 'space themed' concept behind it. The intros, the clear use of synths here and there, the almost Star Wars-esque 'feel', it just adds a lot of excitement and positive tension to each track. As far as I'm concerned, the kick-ass highlight is the cover version of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "Down By The River", which has such an urgent and truly killer guitar solo in it, that you have to play it loudly multiple times before the magnitude of the entire version kicks in. The opening track "Miles From Earth" prepares the listener for about 50 minutes of a serious listening workout. Followed by "Turn To Stone", the tone is set and "Fly... Night Bird" then opens with what seems to be a nod and a wink to Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", but even before you can pour yourself a high-end glass of single malt, Buchanan kicks off with a solo that goes so deep, that you can barely keep your eyes dry. What an out of this world, big fat, ripping-things-to-shreds guitar solo this is. I can go on and on, but knowing that Roy struggled with a drinking problem and eventually died under suspicious circumstances in jail, you just know that the man must have dealt with an unimaginable amount of pain and sorrow; you can just hear him talk to you through his solos. With all that in mind, the album title "You're Not Alone" may have multiple meanings to those who just like the concept of space, or followed Buchanan's career, or -as Roy- had other shit to deal with, but always found their comfort in music. Roy Buchanan manages to deliver a truly staggering wall of blues rock with this record and I can guarantee you that if you listen to this gem in one sitting, you'll at some point really need a stiff drink while you catch your breath, 'cause his solos will not let you go until you heard every single note of 'em. Brilliant.
