- Another really great album. The tracklist is brilliant and on each CD for different reasons. CD1 starts out housey...briefly, before moving into the more anthemic side of trance. There's a nice little mash up thrown in there as track 10/11 which you can find on vinyl as 'The Rejected EP' here: https://www.discogs.com/master/577746
or you can just recreate digitally it yourself, very easily - if you're doing that and want it to sound like the 'euphoria' version surprisingly enough you have to mixdown in mono(!) as that appears to be what the vinyl was pressed as - or just get in contact with me ;)
Anyway I digress, it's a sold mix, I wouldn't have bothered putting Something About You (DJ Garry mix) on it, kind of kills the vibe a bit. There's something a bit wonky about the ordering, I can't quite put my finger on it - it's not glaringly bad or anything, maybe it's to do with the styles of trance going into each other making the 'power' levels drift up and down. No real complaints though!!
CD2 is my favourite of the two. It's darker and deeper - the track choices and styles remind me of Gatecrasher - Global Sound System and honestly it'd make a great sister CD to that one for those what enjoy that compilation. Well, at least the first 10 tracks - then there's this dip in energy and feeling as Embrace comes in. It's not a bad track at all, it's just that it feels a bit weird coming out of all those deep tracks into that. Although I like them I'd have dropped Embrace and Power of Love and skipped to Fiji. Quick note that Power of Love is edited so that the drop...goes straight into the outro, which is another disappointing power drain.
By the end we've got back into the deep melodic progressive stuff again with Area 99, awesome.
This CD is so close to being a perfect mix and one that I'd put right up there with John 00's For Your Ears Only and Gatecrashers Global Sound System.Juuuuuust falls short.
Still it's a 4 star from me, definitely worth a place on someone's shelf and a regular listen!!
374/500 - not as good as the first album but still good and contains some great tracks, i think its an album you will either like or dislike though? Alex Gold mixes a cd containing some of the big trance anthems of the year with a couple of house and chillout tracks thrown in, while Agnelli & Nelson takes cd 2 in a darker direction, strange and different for them or not? you decide, a few big anthems are contained within cd 2 though so if you don't like the darker more progressive trance alls not lost, trance did seem to take a turn that year, with the darker more progressive releases becoming big, so it was not surprising a few tracks would appear on this album
- This was nearly as good as the previous years Ibiza Euphoria mixed by Matt Darey. The Agnelli & Nelson mix, is frankly, rubbish. I didnt enjoy it at all. It was just to progressive for my liking. Alex Gold's mix though, is absolutely brilliant. The thing that hits you most, is how bloody amazing the mixing is. I mean, this is as close to perfect as its ever going to get. It is amazing.
