- My copy closes matches this one but my center labels are the exact opposite. My side A has left justified band name and title. Also the word “STEREO” is smaller font. Side B being the opposite of course. My copy is still in the shrink and has no hype or promotional only sticker either. Plays NM and for a 1970 recorded album sounds pretty good.
My copy also is similar to this one
https://www.discogs.com/release/6607896-Sugarloaf-Sugarloaf
in the runout, but doesn’t have the funky label like this does.
My side A: LST-7640-1 (2) 3 K 44
My side B: LST-7640-2 1 K 44
The 44 is very faint and easily can be missed.
Not sure if my copy is a unique release not yet listed but maybe this info helps someone in the future. - Edited 10 months agoI bought the self-titled LP album of "SUGARLOAF"(1970) back in 1970 when it first came out and I loved it ! Side "A" starts out with the hit song "GREEN EYED LADY" (which went to # 3 on the charts) , "THE TRAIN KEPT A - ROLLIN' " (previously recorded by JOHNNY BURNETT AND THE ROCK AND ROLL TRIO , British group THE YARDBIRDS and later by AEROSMITH ) and finishing out side "A" is "MEDLEY : BACH DOOR MEN / CHEST FEVER" ("CHEST FEVER" was originally done by the group THREE DOG NIGHT ) . I mainly played side "A" most all of the time . Later in the 1980's , I converted all of my LP's to CDs only and I bought the CD version of this release .
NOTE : "THE TRAIN KEPT A - ROLLIN' " is wrongly crediting the songwriting credits to YARDBIRDS members : (CHRIS) DREJA , (JEFF) BECK , (JIMMY) PAGE ,and (KEITH) RELF .The YARDBIRDS members should only be credited to the arrangement and not the songwriting . The correct songwriters are : TINY BRADSHAW , HOWARD KAY , and SID NATHAN (pseudonym LOIS MANN) . TINY BRADSHAW recorded "THE TRAIN KEPT A - ROLLIN' " back in 1951 . - i remembered this denver band from their lousy "green eyed lady" single, but a friend suggested i spin the LP, and hey -- it's not bad. long songs that must have been very cool live, with a very weirdly nice organ track that works to connect the sound of the nice to the sound of the band. not something i had considered before.
- You can't tell from the picture I provided, but the song durations are listed on the back of the box next to the song titles.
- Just jammed the full record again this morning. WOW! Thoroughly impressed. Not at all what I remembered when I decided to put on Green Eyed Lady. That of course is a classic catchy tune. But if you can believe it, the rest of the album lives up to the heavy bass and shining keys of Green-Eyed Lady. Lots of late 60's style jams and blues guitar. Just lots of great playing. Get your surround sound speakers on turn up the bass and just hear these guys rock. Very under-rated record, for good reason, when the classic catchy tunes get stuck in your head (like Green-Eyed Lady) the rest of the tunes tend to get neglected.
