Rod Stewart – Tonight I'm Yours

Fair 3/5 stars. To be specific, I find Side A to be 2 stars, but Side B to be 4 stars. Side A truly drags and sounds dated, but perhaps the problem is that I'm hearing this album for the first time in 2019 (thanks, local record shop!).

But Side B! Man oh man, Side B. It starts out strong with a Dylan cover, then kicks into dance mode with "Jealous". I find "Sonny" to be a good song but a bit of a lull, and then bang, here comes the utterly sublime "Young Turks," with Mark Knofpler from The Dire Straits never letting the momentum slow down. Closing out the album is "Never Give Up on a Dream," which when I first heard it, I couldn't believe how strong it was-- I lifted the needle after the song ended and cued up that one-two punch of "Young Turks" into "...Dream".

If you can find this vintage album on the cheap, def pick it up, but be prepared to end up just spinning Side B all the time. That's not a bad thing, since Side B is so strong. Or, maybe you'll also love Side A!

Quick first listen thoughts are that its pretty clear and well made, but is kind of loud and might suffer from some of that compression.
