Reviews
- Edited one month agoFantastic track and now available at most digital download sites thank goodness! First heard it on Clubbers Guide To 2000 where Turner edited the track to drop into the second drop where the violin kicks in and it sounds SO much better that way!
The flip side, Nanukai is an absolute banger as well that I first heard on the mighty For Your Ears Only (John 00 Fleming). - ATTENTION !! - I just would like to mention here that I am willing to part ways with my EX+/EX+ copy of "Episode I" in exchange for a decent (at least overall EX condition) copy of the original 1982 LP 'Prototype' by Experimental Products.
- I Loved Nanuki, although I wish it were longer and really disliked Church of Ra, which was a surprise considering all the rave reviews.
- Edited 6 years agoI read a review on this tune in Mixmag or DJ & it described it along the lines of an epic trance tune that brought tears to they eyes with the use of violins etc but didn't quite have that polish of a proper trance track (not in a bad way) and I was lucky enough to find a copy in HMV shortly after. Mine's on a plain whiteish label with 'Digger Episode 1' written on in marker and no sticker.
A great track, although I find the use of the violin slightly cheesy it's a masterpiece. This used to go for serious money and has still held a decent value all these years later which tells you how good it is. It appeared on 1 of the Euphoria's but, due to having to adhere to strict timings to fit more tunes on, it cut out the main part of the drop after that amazing breakdown and build up, which kind of ruined the impact - Classic tune, and I just realised why I like it so much.
It is similar to Atlantis - Voyager II (First vinyl I bought), with it's delicate strings, atmospheric build-up and perfectly layered sounds. - Edited 12 years agoA very strong double A side release. 'Church of RA' epic orchestestral style trance with a long euphoric breakdown like no other that defined that era - A stunner.
'Nanuki' kicks in hard from the onset and is beautifully dark with more a progressive house feel which is well worth a listen.
- Edited 17 years agoWhen I first heard it I said to myself, I need to have this song. Well after looking for it for a while, I finally could buy it from an friend of mine who was selling it.
And I must agree with everybody that Church Of Ra is indeed an superb trance tune.
Church Of Ra keeps you focused from the great build-up with the use of samples and violins. Straight trough the wonderful changing melody-line once again with the right use of samples. And finising with an powerful ending. With everything combined there are not many songs that can measure up with Church Of Ra.
To keep it short if you have the opportunity go and but this vinyl. You won’t be disappointed :). - Edited 19 years agoAGREED, just listened to this vinyl for the first time and "Church of Ra" is definatley a very great trance tune. Sounds very simular to the bass line of Moontribe - Dance of the Seventh Hill. Groovin trance beats all the way. 10/10.
- "Church of Ra" was once described by Mixmag as 'The perfect trance tune'. Agreed! A complete blaster on any trancefloor, this is a layered melody-laden production that simply oozes quality. Dominated by a roughly 1,5 minutes long buildup, it continues to bounce along, constantly changing the melody-line and sample structure in interesting & entertaining ways. Well, don't read this blather, go buy the record and give your audience a treat!
