I've heard this pressing on a few different setups. Played with an Ortofon 2M Bronze and Clearaudio SmartV2 was Chef's Kiss!! 🧑🏼‍🍳 💋

Decent sounding CD, I’ve got no complaints. Especially since it was free, from a local beer company giveaway.

The last song instead of struggle within is One as it’s a mistake.

Does anyone have 'this copy' but it's just double black vinyl? I've got one that has the code at the bottom for this and d**n as I'm writing this I remembered I bought this used and am now realizing someone swapped the discs................ :(

Deep bass, strong guitars, clear vocals and the drums sound so much real! Really good pressing mastered at Sterling, really crankable, sounds like having the band playing in front of you.
I noticed very strong sibilance on the vocals of Nothing Else Matters though. It's a very hot cut.

This is the ONE. No pressing is better. The 2008 is not, the simply vinyl is not, the latest pressing certainly isn't. Buy this record and thank me later lol. This is the Nirvana Nevermind of Metal. Iconic, rare, punchy af pressing. Couldn't be happier to have one in NM shape.

This version sounds ok. The mids sound very good but those aside nothing particularly mind-blowing. The trebles are a bit "splashy". The 1991 UK OG is brighter and more present.

I have one of these - came in the Metallican - but the CD and booklet look exactly like Australasian gold signature edition. Anyone else?

The production is flawless, the performances are great. Most of the songs? Forgettable. This album single handedly killed thrash metal. With Metallica over saturation of MTV for years due to this albums popularity it caused other bands to try and follow its success. They failed. There are some great tracks on this album like The Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam, Of Wolf and Man, The God That Failed and My Friend of Misery. Sad But True is OK, however the rest are boring songs that I have never once played on its own. Not once in my life did I wake up and say I must hear Don't Tread on me or Struggle Within.

You can say that this album is why Metallica got to huge. I do not agree. They were going to explode no matter what they released. We were all biting our nails with anticipation to get a new Metallica album. Metallica is popular because they were the first truly heavy metal band to have a sound that more people could get into. Even before this album. Most bands have something that throws the average person off about them. Average people listening to the radio do not like many metal bands for one reason or the other. Metallica had a sound that metal fans loved and the average person could hear and not cringe at whiny singing or guttural cookie monster style and satanic lyrics.

Sound stage,separation,depth of image and tonal balance are phenomenal in this European 1st.
Dynamics is second to none;this record is among my favorites when showing off my setup to friends-never fails to leave folks awestruck.
And...there is no sibilance whatsoever.The process of the stylus tracking the groove is complex,and sensitive to a number of technical parameters.This is definitely not the place & time to go into details;let it suffice to say that a lot can go wrong when aligning a cartridge.
Also,and I know this is going to hurt,tracking ability and consequently your listening experience correlates directly to the quality of the cartridge,and level of sophistication of shape of the diamond involved.
Someone in his right mind would never expect a Skoda or even a Volkswagen to outperform a Porsche or Lamborghini.Yet some superior performing cartridge is required to flawlessly track and play some of the most demanding and audiophile records out there.
This stellar version of a classic album incontestably is one of them.
