- My absolute all-time favorite Drum and Bass mix. Dieselboy was one of the first DJs to utilize a more cinematic approach by establishing an overall concept for the mix itself and commissioning tracks specifically for this album.
The mix takes the listener on a journey through the dark/techy side of DnB. The tracks flow in and out of each other seamlessly without losing momentum or becoming repetitive & boring. It's also aged really well unlike some mixes that sound very primitive and out-dated.
Also, the incorporation of artists from outside the world of DnB was a bold move at the time. It's just a shame that Dieselboy never got the level of respect and acceptance from the headz across the pond that he deserved. If this exact mix was released with everyone thinking it was BC or Noisia or BSE as the Dj, it would have blown up even more than it actually did.
Fans of DnB should not sleep on this. - Awesome album. One of the few mixes that I listened to over and over again, and probably my favourite from Dieselboy, apart from maybe Drum n Bass Selection USA from the mid 90s, which I later discovered and is so different that you'd be comparing apples to oranges.
For someone who was too young to go to any party whatsoever, let alone a DnB one, with a proper system even... this album enabled me to really experience what all the fuss is really about. It really opened up my taste beyond the few Liquid DnB tunes that, yes, while they sounded cool and are really approachable, more often than not lacked the punch. It's a raver's compilation for home listeners. The tracks are really diverse, some more break-y (I love the Technical Itch one), some more melodic (Flight 643), some just blew my mind with their sheer epicness (Moulin Rouge was *huge* for me back in the day).
I'd like to point out, that while the artist of Flight Path is credited as Dub Faction, the tune was released under the Culture Shock moniker on Moving Shadow (MSXEP031). - Edited 19 years agoOne of the best CDs I've ever heard. Starts off with some interesting beats and builds to a hard-n-heavy breakdown. Proceeds then to some vicious percussion, and climaxes with some amazing trance remixes. Dieselboy throws in one last incredibly hard track before throwing you to the wind with Human.
Solid mixing, solid tracks, again one of the best CDs ever. - Edited 19 years agoThis cd is out of control. It just keeps building and building and building and the energy never stops. One of my all time favourite DnB CDs was projectHUMAN, and I think this CD is just as good, if not BETTER then projectHUMAN. The remixes of Flight 643 and Human were amazing as well. I never thought that trance could be given a dash of DnB, but it works on this CD. Stellar CD, well worth the 20 bucks I paid for it!
- Edited 19 years agoAnother mind-blowing Dieselboy mix. This time through, the theme is more D&D/fantasy, rather than futuristic technology (mainly just in the intro, and other little samples here and there - not the music itself, though that would be cool). There's a bunch of stellar songs, and the ones that stand out the most are: Basic Operations' "White", and the remix of Tiesto's "Flight 643" (awesome d&b remix of a trance track; trancey tech-step at its finest), among others of course.
