D-Passion / T-Junction – Exposure

This is the debut record of D-Passion and T-Junction.

Exposure (Promo Remix) is a brilliant combination of Dutch Hardcore, Darkcore and Promo's File Style. The track is just in your face being constantly interesting and pounding the fuck out of your speakers! The main sample in the track is Tim Robbins' Bill Gates-esque character in the 2001 movie, Antitrust. Promo takes the bubbling ideas of the Original Mix and pushes them to their full potential. This track is the underground Hardcore I wanted to hear! The Original Mix, whilst not as good as the Promo Mix has all the ingredients of an interesting producer, it's clear why Mr Hoff thought Mr Gieling had potential and he was right, D-Passion went on to become one of the most interesting Hardcore producers of the 2000's. The end of the A-Side has a message to less talented artists, if you listened to early 2000's Gabber, he nailed it and made me like him even more!

Checkmate was produced by T-Junction and Catscan. With Catscan's ridiculously quality productions, this must have been a blessing for T-Junction. The track itself is a delightful combination of slightly dark but awesome melodies, Catscan's slick and swirling production, Ice Cube samples and a nice fuzzy kickdrum. Incredibly underrated B1 track. As mentioned on the record, The Arrival, was produced on a Sony Playstation, its actually pretty good, the main riff being darker in tone but catchy at the same time. It would definitely put more famous Hardcore producers to shame.

Overall, this record is an exceptionally strong start by two new artists in the Hardcore scene. It's a shame T-Junction and Catscan didn't write more tracks together, although both would end up on Masters Of Hardcore 6 years later. For a brief moment in time, Third Movement had: Promo, Catscan, "Korsakoff", D-Passion, T-Junction, N-Vitral, X-Ess, Armageddon Project, Peaky Pounder and Void Settler!! Absolute proof that Third Movement was a great record label pushing Hardcore in the right direction for the 21st Century.
