Burt Bacharach – Plays His Hits

1997 CD master has many songs that play slightly below standard pitch (the degree varies from song to song). It sounds like the tapes used for the master were either recorded on a machine running slightly too fast, or played back on a machine running slightly too slow.

I like Burt and his hits but for some reason I dislike many of the cuts on this early on LP he conducted...Several of the songs have the background singers so harsh and musically abusing to my ears...He mellowed over the years but for some reason he went way over the top on this album he conducted...

This is gorgeous loungey, easy going simple, sweet & innocent 60s orchestral pop-jazz filled with melodic phrases, innovative progressions, sophistication & grandiosity. Walk on By is one of the best songs ever! Lush & exquisite.

Was this just because of Austin Powers? It was released the same year of the first Austin Power movie.

Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, session musicians at the time, performed on several tracks: "Anyone Who Had a Heart," "Blue on Blue," "Don't Make Me Over," "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me," "Walk on By," "Wives and Lovers"

Does anyone know if the woman on the cover is Sally Field?

Australian 1970s reissue on the MCA label of Burt Bacharach's first "solo" album where he arranges, conducts and plays some of his best songs. Although this one has Walk on By and What's New Pussycat the song selection is not quite as well known as the ones on his second album (Reach Out) but worth listening nevertheless. The LP quality is not quite perfect and there are some scratches and a bit of groove distortion, but the album cover (showing a pretty girl is a mini dress against a red backdrop) is worth it.

I was lucky to find one in reasonably good condition - the LP surface is a bit scratched but plays very well after a going through a good clean.

One of the sexiest album covers EVER made (in my opinion) except for the best one by Paul Mauriat Blooming Hits! The sound is crisp and clear. My copy had no pops or scratches and in great stereo. My system is a Garrard SL95B with Shure 5X needle btw.

The original KS-3577 label appears similar to the Canadian pressing with KS-3577, KS-8-357-A on side 1 and KS-8-3577-B for side 2.
