Finally got around to adding this to my collection. I had to jump on the sale offered over the Christmas period by Lex Records.
After getting into MIKE quite a while back, this album blew me away and was easily one of my favourite albums of the year. There’s really no excuse as to why I didn’t cop earlier. Fantastic, gritty lofi production. A short tape, but with a lot of layers to discover throughout multiple listens.
I wasn’t actually expecting too much from the pressing itself due to the lofi production but am pleasantly surprised. Full of warmth with really nice dynamics. The wax itself was extremely clean straight out of the sleeve, which thankfully was poly-lined and not just paper.
Straight onto the turntable as this is gonna stay in rotation for a good while. Just really hoping ‘War in My Pen’ gets a vinyl release now.
